Craft Brunch Bunch

There's no denying that spring has sprung.

This weekend was the official beginning of spring for me. I didn't blog last week because, to be completely honest, I didn't have it in me to sit in front of the computer when I could be outside enjoying the beauitful sunshiney days we've been having here.

A couple weeks ago, my close friend, Ruthi Auda, and I decided it was time to implement a monthly craft brunch. Appropriately, we named it the Craft Brunch Bunch.

On the menu this week:

*mimosas

*croissants from a local bakery

*homemade cinnamon rolls (thank you Ruthi!!)

*homemade lemon muffins w/ homemade blueberry drizzle (courtes de moi)

*peach & grapefruit slices covered in powdered sugar

I hosted the first meeting.

Paige worked on a necklace made from mixed media materials. So cute!

And I finished embroidering one panel of our curtains...

We had a really great time enjoying and getting to know one another, while working on our projects, drinking mimosas, and relaxing. It was wonderful!

tuesday night excitement

Every Tuesday night for the month of March, I've enrolled myself to take a Floral Design class through the Long Beach Parks and Recreation program.
The gal who did the flowers for our wedding, Megan, posted a link of the list of classes on her website, Honey and Poppies, because the teacher just so happens to be her mom!  Of course when I found this out, I signed up for the class immediately.  I love their work and their style of floral design.

This week we made kitchen bouquets complete with kale and an apple! Throughout the year, you can add your own veggies to the mix, like artichokes and pumpkins!

My husband and I are in this mode of transformation with our home.  We like the way it looks currently but think there are things we could do to make it really look great.  Among a few other projects I'm working on comes a dainty little craft that is easy to do and can transform the look of a space instantly. 


Do you have a collection of vases you don't know what to do with like I do? Here's an idea! 

What you'll need:

Puffy Paint (any color will do - I had gold lying around)

Vases (I bought some from the local Assistance League for $.50 each)

Matte White Spray Paint

1) wash and dry vases thoroughly.

2) create your desired pattern on your vase with the puffy paint. 

3) let dry (I used a hairdryer because I'm impatient)

4) spray paint evenly, making sure you don't apply too much in one area.  if this happens, it will more than likely drip, or collect and crack.
5) reapply every few hours to ensure that the previous coat has dried fully.
6) ...and voila!

In all honesty, even though this project is very easy to accomplish, I found that keeping it from cracking and peeling was quite a challenge.  I tried changing up the room temperature they were drying in and how I washed and dried them before starting.  Once the conditions were laid out, it was clear sailing from there.
